A browse node and a product category are related concepts on Amazon, but they serve different purposes:
1. **Browse Node:**
- A browse node is a hierarchical classification or categorization system used on Amazon to organize and display products to customers.
- Each product on Amazon is associated with one or more browse nodes that help customers find products when they are either searching or browsing a particular category.
- Browse nodes help structure the Amazon catalog, making it easier for customers to navigate and discover products.
- For example, the browse node for a pair of sneakers could be "Clothing, Shoes & Jewelry > Men > Shoes > Athletic." This path guides customers to the specific category where they can find the product.
2. **Product Category:**
- A product category, on the other hand, determines how products are grouped and managed from a seller's perspective.
- Product categories are used for various purposes, including setting restrictions on selling certain types of products, determining referral fees, and defining specific product attributes and requirements.
- When you list a product for sale on Amazon, you typically select a product category that best fits the type of product you are selling. This helps Amazon apply the appropriate rules and fees for that category.
- For example, if you are selling electronics, you might select the "Electronics" product category.
Changing the browse node of multiple products is usually done when you want to reclassify or move products to a different category or subcategory. You can save time by using an inventory file to make these changes in bulk. Here's how you can do it:
1. **Generate an Inventory File:**
- Go to "Add Products via Upload" and generate the appropriate inventory file template.
2. **Enter Product Information:**
- Enter the product information in the inventory file, including the new browse node information in the "Item Type Keyword" column. This column should contain the desired browse node path for each product.
3. **Upload the File:**
- Upload the completed file on the "Upload your spreadsheet" tab of the "Add Products via Upload" page.
By using an inventory file, you can efficiently update the browse nodes for multiple products, helping to ensure that your products are categorized correctly and are more discoverable to customers within their intended categories.
